The Statue of Liberty is situated on Liberty Island in Upper New York Bay, to the south of Ellis Island. A tourist is not required to shell out any money to visit the Statue of Liberty, and the only cost to be borne by a visitor is ferry charges. Ferries commissioned to transport visitors to the statue depart from Liberty State Park in New Jersey and Battery Park in Lower Manhattan, and since they are not allowed to dock at Liberty Island for free, the tourist is charged a nominal fee. Security checks are conducted twice during the whole process.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan is home to a 9/11 peace story quilt. The initiative of an artist named Faith Ringgold, the peace story quilt is an attempt of the man to try and encourage communal harmony in a nation torn by a heinous terrorist attack that skewered the balance for all involved. The purpose of the quilt was to quiet the emotionally charged multitudes who were in dire need of hope and faith after the disaster struck. Created by Faith and an army of students aged between 8 and 17, the quilt is a three-paneled beauty that is currently being flaunted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and is definitely worth a visit.
Those who appreciate arts must catch a show in Broadway, the heart of American theatre. The theatres of Broadway host a wide range of performances that promise to woo every person. Gifted actors enliven long forgotten and universally popular characters, signature make up and the ambience of the theatres captivate audiences and the strong voices and powerful performances are an experience that will be etched deep into memory. Tickets cost anything between $70 and $150, depending upon the success of the performance and the prominence of its cast and crew.
